This Advent season, Connections Church is honored to partner with World Renew, the global ministry of the Christian Reformed Church, through our Giving Trees initiative. Rooted in a passion for justice and mercy, World Renew works alongside communities worldwide to bring hope, reconciliation, and restoration. Their mission reminds us of God’s call to love our neighbors—both near and far—in ways that transform lives.
As we prepare our hearts for Advent, we reflect on the blessings in our lives and the importance of sharing God’s love with those in need. Through World Renew, we can take part in Christ-centered initiatives that bring hope and healing to individuals, families, and communities around the world.
What is World Renew?
World Renew is a global ministry dedicated to addressing poverty, disaster, and injustice while honoring the dignity and God-given gifts of those they serve. Their work goes beyond temporary relief, focusing instead on empowering communities to build long-term resilience and sustainable solutions.
Through partnerships with local churches and organizations, World Renew offers life-changing programs in disaster response, agriculture and food security, health and nutrition, economic development, and education. Whether it’s rebuilding homes after a natural disaster or equipping families with skills to start small businesses, every effort is rooted in love, respect, and the hope of Christ.
A key way to support their work is through the World Renew Annual Gift Catalog, which offers tangible ways to give. By selecting items such as goats, chickens, hand-washing stations, or agriculture training, you can provide families with the tools they need to thrive. For example, one family in our congregation recently gave animal friendship packs and garden supplies in memory of their grandson. Giving in memory of a loved one or as a meaningful Christmas gift is a beautiful way to reflect God’s love worldwide.

This Advent season, Connections Church is focusing on two transformative areas from World Renew’s Gift Catalog:
- Disaster Response Services: When natural disasters strike, World Renew’s Disaster Response Services team steps in to provide critical support. This year, they helped families affected by flooding in Rock Valley, Iowa, offering resources to rebuild homes and restore hope. Members of our congregation with ties to Rock Valley have shared heartfelt gratitude for the compassion and effectiveness of World Renew’s efforts.
- Economic Opportunity: World Renew’s programs empower families to achieve financial independence through savings and loan groups, livelihood training, and support for small business start-ups. These initiatives help break the cycle of poverty, equipping individuals with the tools and skills needed for lasting change.
Through our Giving Trees, we are pooling cash donations to support these impactful efforts. Every gift reflects the love of Christ and brings hope to those who need it most.
