The church is called to pray and care for one another. As the Apostle Paul wrote: “We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.” 2 Thessalonians 1:3. This calling invites us to reflect God’s love by supporting one another through life’s challenges.
The Prayer and Care Team
At Connections Church, the Prayer and Care Team is dedicated to reflecting God’s love by supporting the spiritual and practical needs of our congregation. From lifting up prayer requests with confidentiality to offering encouragement and care during life’s challenges, this team is here to walk alongside you. Working together, the team is further supported by our pastors and deacons, who provide additional care through visitation, prayer, and consultation.
What is Congregational Care?
AAt Connections Church, we encourage everyone to join a small group where the kind of care described in Acts 2:42-47 can take place. In these groups, members are more aware of each other’s needs, making them well-positioned to offer encouragement, support, and prayer.
In addition to small groups, our pastors and deacons are available for visitation, prayer, and consultation. Prayer requests are kept confidential unless you choose to share them with the larger church community.
What about short term needs?
Many short-term needs are met within small groups. However, if your need is more extensive or you are not part of a small group, please contact the church office for assistance at (303) 791-2143, office hours are (Tuesday through Thursday), or email care@myconnections.church.
What if my need is longer term?
For chronic or complex needs, Connections Church partners with two organizations:
- Pastoral Counseling of Denver (PCD Counseling): Connections Church is a host site for PCD Counseling, which offers spiritually sensitive and clinically informed counseling for individuals, couples, and families. Financial assistance for initial consultations is available, and PCD works with various financial situations, including insurance coverage when applicable.
- Volunteers in Action (VIA):VIA is a cooperative ministry that enhances the lives of people who are elderly, disabled, or low-income. Their team walks alongside individuals in specific and caring ways to provide support.
What if I have a financial need?
Connections maintains a benevolence fund to assist church members and others in the community with immediate financial needs. If you have an immediate financial need, please contact one of the deacons for assistance at deacons@myconnections.church. As with all requests for care, these requests will be kept confidential unless you ask that your needs be made more broadly known.
Where do I turn for prayer?
We encourage that you pray with those in your small group. If you would like the prayer team to lift up your specific needs, contact them at prayer@myconnections.church. Prayers submitted to the prayer team will be kept confidential unless you tell them that they may make your request known more broadly.
What if I have other questions?
If you have questions about Prayer and Care at Connections Church, contact our Prayer and Care leader, Ruth Folkerts, at ruth@myconnections.church. Connections Church is committed to reflecting the love of God by providing care to His people. However, we may not be aware of your need unless we hear from you. Help us be a body of believers that shares God’s love both within and beyond our congregation.
