Be Holy
for it is written:
"Be holy, because I am holy.”
~ 1 Peter 1:16
If I were to ask you to pick one word to describe God
you might very well say, "Holy."
And you'd be right.
No adjective is used more in connection with God.
But what if I asked you to describe yourself?
I doubt that "holy" would be the first word to jump to your mind.
This Sunday we're making the case-
Actually Peter is going to make the case for us-
That just as God is holy,
so we-
God's chosen,
sanctified,
born again,
obedient children-
(this is how Peter is redefining us)
We too are called to be holy!
