Years ago, a pastor from India named Samuel Azariah stood before the church in England and America. He thanked them for sending missionaries and for providing goods to feed the poor. Then he added a deeper request: “We also ask for love. Give us friends.” His words remind us that the gospel is not only about resources or programs but also about real friendship in Christ.
This is why Connections Church is beginning a kingdom focused partnership with HEART for NEPAL (Himalaya)-EC Church Nepal. Jesus Christ came not as a distant benefactor but as Savior and friend. He humbled Himself to walk with us, to serve us, and to call us friends (John 15:12–15). We want this ministry to follow His example.
Why This Matters

We support ministry in Nepal through HEART for NEPAL (Himalaya)-EC Church Nepal because of our personal connection through the family of one of our members. Elizabeth Kipgen is active at Connections Church with our youth ministry here in Colorado while her sister Hannah serves youth in Nepal. This unique bond gives us the opportunity to build a partnership that is both relational and kingdom focused. We are not only giving supplies and funds, we are also sharing life, prayer and encouragement across cultures in the name of Jesus.
Through this partnership we focus on God’s reign both in Nepal and also here at Connections. We want to celebrate what Christ is doing in both places, rejoicing that we share the same King, pray the same Lord’s Prayer and walk together as brothers and sisters in Him.
Rooted in the Gospel
At its core, this outreach flows from the good news of Jesus Christ. We are called to love God and neighbor, to use every resource wisely and to make disciples of all nations in the power of the Holy Spirit. What we are building with HEART for NEPAL (Himalaya)-EC Church Nepal is not only about financial support but also about friendship in Christ’s kingdom. As Paul reminds us, “Let all that you do be done in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14).
