Pastor Rob Byker joins us with a message from Matthew 6:5-9, titled “Hallowed Be Your Name.” from the Lord’s Prayer sermon series.
The prayer Jesus gave us begins with God. No Christian knows God as they should and nothing matters more to the Christian life or to human life in general than the true knowledge of God. To pray, “Hallowed be your name,” is to say, “Help me to know You in ever truer ways.” This means praying to God as the glorious God, the Audience of One (vv. 5–6). It also means praying to God as the caring and completely competent Father who reveals His true nature to us. We do not need to babble or use special phrases, for prayer is simply talking to God about the work we share. Together we are spreading the knowledge of this good and glorious God to others and taking the good news of His goodness to the lost.
