Good Friday Service

On Good Friday, we conclude our Lenten series, Encountering the Cross, with the message “Peter Encounters the Cross” from 1 Peter 2:23–25 and John 10:14–15. In these passages, Peter helps us understand the meaning of Christ’s suffering and the hope that flows from it.
At the cross, Jesus chose trust instead of retaliation. He bore our sins in His body so that we might be healed, saved from the penalty of sin and called to die to sin and live for righteousness. The cross is also where our Good Shepherd laid down His life for His sheep, even for those who have strayed.
Every Christian who encounters the cross is reminded that we are fully known there as straying sinners whom God has forgiven. Peter knew this firsthand. Our Shepherd laid down His life for us, knowing our weakness and our tendency to stray, and loving us still. The Shepard’s cross reveals that He is fully worthy of our trust. As he laid down his life for us, we are invited to lay down our distrust of His shepherding. We couldn’t ask for a better Overseer of our souls!
Join us as we gather to remember Christ’s sacrifice and reflect on the love displayed at the cross.
