Easter Sunrise Service

The practice of a sunrise service comes directly from the Gospel story. For example, in Mark 16:2 we read, “Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb.” Since the church found Jesus’ tomb empty at sunrise on that first Easter morning, Christians have long gathered at daybreak to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
It is a fitting way to begin Easter. Through Christ, God has brought us “out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). Paul characterizes Christian’s as “children of the light and children of the day” (1 Thessalonians 5:5). Because Jesus has risen, we are a people of hope.
We invite you to join us at 6:30 am on Easter morning as we gather at sunrise to reflect on the promise that Christ has “given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3). Let us rejoice in the fact that we belong to the light that began to shine that first resurrection Sunday!
After the sunrise service, stay for a light breakfast and fellowship as we continue celebrating Easter morning together and prepare to gather again for our Easter Worship Service at 9:30 am.
