Service Type:

"... whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant... just as
the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a
ransom for many.” ~ Matthew 20:26,28

Worship songs: Won’t Stop Now, God You’re So Good, Mighty To Save, Reckless Love

Connection Group Questions:

Opening:  The decision point to SERVE is a bit different that our previous four: START, STOP, STAY, GO.  There is never really a time or place that we are not called to serve.  Begin by sharing some of your "serving" experiences, whatever those may be.  What did you do, what were the results for you and others?

Read Matthew 20:20-28.  How was serving so central to Jesus' mission?  What examples or stories from Jesus' life of service come to mind?

Read Philippians 2:1-11.  Discuss this passage on Jesus' example of humility and service and the implications for our lives as his followers.

Read John 13:12-17.  This a very famous moment where Jesus washes his disciples feet.  There may be no modern equivalent to the humility required to perform this act of service.  How can we be a people who serve each other, and others outside of our Group, in a similar manner?

In closing, explore and encourage one another to give your lives in service to Jesus and others.  What will you do in direct obedience to this command and example of Jesus?
