Connecting people with Jesus, one another, and our world
This mission flows directly from Jesus who came to “seek and to save the lost,” (Luke 19:10) and told us “Go into all the world and makes disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
At the heart, it’s really very simple we want to connect people in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. We want to connect people with one another in authentic Christian community. We want to connect as a church with our community, both locally and around the world.
Visually, we think about it as reaching UP to God in Worship, reaching IN to one another in Groups to people in our community, and reaching OUT to people in Service.
How will we live this out?
We are a Missional Church making disciples through Christ-centered, community-focused, culturally-engaged worship, groups and service.
Let’s break that down:
We are a church organized around the mission of Jesus: to know, love and serve Him, as we seek to make more disciples.
We do three primary things: Worship, Groups and Service. Worship is our connection with God. Groups are our connection with people. Service is our connection with the world. Our focus is to center on Jesus and making Him known by engaging our community so that new people may come to know Jesus and interacting with our culture so that what we do is relevant and builds what Jesus calls “The Kingdom of God.”
Finally, we want to multiply. We want to reach, equip and send out more disciples, making disciples, by equipping every person to be a…
Bringer: Attending is great. Inviting is better. Bringing is Biblical!
John 1:42 “And he brought them to Jesus.”
Member: We are part of a Group because we are part of the body of Christ.
Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Server: We use our gifts on a Ministry Team.
1 Peter 4:10 “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
Giver: We give back to the God who gave His life for us.
John 3:16 “For God so love the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.”
Pastor: We will take care of the people around us.
Acts 20:28 “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flocks of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood.”
Love God. Love people. Do something.
If we truly love God and love people, with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, just as Jesus invites us to do, then everything we do will become an expression of worship and service.
Make it Easy
We want to make it easy for everyone to come to church and meet Jesus and get connected.
Oriented toward Outsiders
Every group, over time, turns inward, unless radically committed to turning outward.
Oriented towards Grace and Truth
We will resist making rules and excuses, and instead, we will rely on grace and truth.
Oriented towards Boldness
The early church prayed for and did bold things. We should too.
Make it personal. Make it better. Make it together. That’s how we do it.
When in doubt, Matthew 7:12
It’s the Golden Rule: “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”
Every square inch in all of creation belongs to God, and therefore everything matters to God, and us.
The answer is prayer.
We will pray before worship. In worship. After worship. Anytime. Anywhere. Prayer is always the beginning of the answer to whatever the question, praise or problem.
