DESCRIPTION:This Sunday as we wrap up our series What We’re Here For with a focus on Reflect through 1 John 1:5–7 and 1 John 2:3–11. \nThroughout the New Testament\, we hear the good news that “the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.” Through His life\, death and resurrection\, Jesus has overcome the darkness and revealed the light of God’s love to the world. \nJohn reminds us that “God is light.” As we walk closely with Him\, His light begins to shine through us. Light is also a picture of holiness and truth. God calls His people to walk in the light\, turning away from darkness and living in genuine fellowship with Him. \nThose who truly know the God of light reflect His character in two important ways. First\, they seek to obey as Christ obeyed. Second\, they love others with the same sacrificial love they have received from Jesus. \nGod calls us to reflect Him through lives marked by love\, obedience and truth. DESCRIPTION:Join us this Easter Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Pastor Rob Byker begins our new series\, Encountering the Resurrection\, with a message from John 20:1–10 titled “Peter Encounters the Empty Tomb.” \nChristians today celebrate the empty tomb as a joyful and triumphant reality. Yet on that first Easter morning\, the empty tomb was a distressing sight. Mary Magdalene assumed grave robbers had taken Jesus’ body. When Peter arrived and saw the empty tomb for himself\, he too found it perplexing. \nPeter did not immediately remember that Jesus had foretold His resurrection. Instead\, the moment did not yet fit his expectations. As John writes\, “They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead” (v.9). \nWhat Peter and the others did not yet realize was that all the wonderful “I AM” promises Jesus made depend on the reality of His resurrection. Christ rose to life ready to fulfill every promise He had given. Even more\, our eternal salvation rests on this truth. SUMMARY:Easter Sunrise Service
DESCRIPTION:The practice of a sunrise service comes directly from the Gospel story. For example\, in Mark 16:2 we read\, “Very early on the first day of the week\, just after sunrise\, they were on their way to the tomb.” Since the church found Jesus’ tomb empty at sunrise on that first Easter morning\, Christians have long gathered at daybreak to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. \nIt is a fitting way to begin Easter. Through Christ\, God has brought us “out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). Paul characterizes Christian’s as “children of the light and children of the day” (1 Thessalonians 5:5). Because Jesus has risen\, we are a people of hope. \nWe invite you to join us at 6:30 am on Easter morning as we gather at sunrise to reflect on the promise that Christ has “given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3). Let us rejoice in the fact that we belong to the light that began to shine that first resurrection Sunday! \nAfter the sunrise service\, stay for a light breakfast and fellowship as we continue celebrating Easter morning together and prepare to gather again for our Easter Worship Service at 9:30 am.

SUMMARY:Good Friday Service
DESCRIPTION:On Good Friday\, we conclude our Lenten series\, Encountering the Cross\, with the message “Peter Encounters the Cross” from 1 Peter 2:23–25 and John 10:14–15. In these passages\, Peter helps us understand the meaning of Christ’s suffering and the hope that flows from it. \nAt the cross\, Jesus chose trust instead of retaliation. He bore our sins in His body so that we might be healed\, saved from the penalty of sin and called to die to sin and live for righteousness. The cross is also where our Good Shepherd laid down His life for His sheep\, even for those who have strayed. \nEvery Christian who encounters the cross is reminded that we are fully known there as straying sinners whom God has forgiven. Peter knew this firsthand. Our Shepherd laid down His life for us\, knowing our weakness and our tendency to stray\, and loving us still. The Shepard’s cross reveals that He is fully worthy of our trust. As he laid down his life for us\, we are invited to lay down our distrust of His shepherding. We couldn’t ask for a better Overseer of our souls! \nJoin us as we gather to remember Christ’s sacrifice and reflect on the love displayed at the cross.

DESCRIPTION:What is the Grief Mapping event? \nConnections Church is pleased to offer this special evening for our community on March 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Connections Church. The Grief Mapping event is an opportunity for the body of Christ to come together and process the emotions associated with grief in a new way through art and music. We will explore how the present day is influenced by loss. Participants will reflect on the people\, places\, and events that have happened since the loss and discover what emotions of grief may be influencing their present day. \nWhy should I attend? \nThis event offers a gentle and accessible way to process grief\, especially for those who find it difficult to put their emotions into words. It can be especially helpful for people who feel their thoughts and feelings are jumbled or hard to express\, creating space for reflection without the pressure to explain or verbalize everything. Even for those who have not yet experienced a significant loss\, learning this process can be meaningful preparation for future seasons of grief and healing\, as well as a practical tool to share with others who are walking through loss. \nWho is leading this event? \nThis event is run by Maile Paris through Connections Church. Maile is a current clinical mental health counseling student at Denver Seminary and is pursuing licensure as a Professional Counselor. Having experienced the loss of her father\, she developed the process of grief mapping as a therapeutic expression of grief. \nRegister Online \nDisclaimer \nGrief is a complicated process and not one that can be healed or managed quickly. This event has the purpose of teaching a new skill with the hope of bringing clarity to those grieving. We will have prayer ministers\, a safe atmosphere and a no pressure environment but it may be difficult for some people due to how sensitive the process of grief can be. We welcome anyone who would like to learn a new way to process and potentially receive some healing. We recommend counseling and continued support through community and fellowship as essential to the grieving process. Pastor Rob Byker will share a short message titled “Our Better Mark”\, reflecting on the mark God placed on Cain and the sobering truth that all of us face death because of sin. The ashes remind us of our mortality and our need for repentance\, humility and honesty before God as we enter this season of reflection. \nThe message will also point us to the hope Christians receive in Christ. Through baptism\, we are given a better mark\, one that points beyond death to new life in Jesus. During the service\, we will observe the imposition of ashes as a sign of repentance and renewed commitment to live in the way of Christ\, who has already overcome death and calls us to walk in His righteousness. All are welcome to participate in this meaningful service.
